Firefighters Prepare Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amid ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a heartwarming scene unfolds in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, where firefighters are going beyond their call of duty.

Members of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on an unexpected role: chefs for the villagers. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the frontline to witness these dedicated firefighters preparing lunch for those affected by the quake.

The aroma of steaming dishes fills the chilly air as firefighters chop vegetables, stir pots over open flames, and serve hot meals to grateful residents. "We want to bring comfort to the villagers during this difficult time," said one firefighter. "Sharing a meal is a simple yet powerful way to show we care."

The earthquake left many homes damaged and families displaced. While reconstruction teams work on rebuilding structures, these firefighters are focusing on nourishing bodies and spirits. Their efforts provide not just food, but also a sense of normalcy and community solidarity.

Villagers expressed deep appreciation for the support. "They are not just fighting fires; they are here fighting alongside us," said one resident. The shared meals have become a symbol of hope and resilience in Cuo'ang Village.

As recovery continues, stories like these highlight the unbreakable spirit of the people in Xizang and the compassionate roles played by first responders in times of crisis.
