Xi Jinping Calls for Unity and Development Ahead of Spring Festival

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

Speaking at an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and enhancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology. These efforts aim to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. \"We must rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,\" Xi said.

Underscoring the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi urged all parties to lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensive reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi also stressed the need to address critical challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolster confidence in development, and establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
