Xi Jinping Pledges Enhanced China-Vietnam Cooperation for Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation, aiming to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. The announcement coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighboring socialist countries.

In a message exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the profound friendship and shared ideals between China and Vietnam.

\"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two nations have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi stated. \"The phrase 'So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers' vividly portrays the relations between our parties and countries.\"

Xi highlighted that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future carrying strategic significance. He noted that the two countries have learned from each other in advancing socialism, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation, and forging ahead hand in hand.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi said the two sides pledged to elevate relations to a new stage by working towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He underscored that amidst unprecedented global changes, the continued commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism is significant not only for their own futures but also for the global socialist cause and regional peace and prosperity.

\"I attach great importance to the growth of bilateral relations,\" Xi affirmed. \"I am willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Let us keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, delivering more benefits to our peoples and contributing to human development and progress.\"
