Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
On Monday, at an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi Jinping, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macro policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.
Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. He urged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to contribute to the nation's progress.
Underscoring the importance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to achieve the targets set for 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi emphasized the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the significance of ecological conservation in ensuring sustainable development.
Xi also pointed out that the ACFIC should guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The gathering exemplified the unity and collaborative spirit between the CPC and non-CPC entities, aiming to foster a harmonious and prosperous future for the nation as it embarks on a new year.
