Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng emphasized the importance of strong China-U.S. relations during a meeting with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish roots in the Chinese mainland, acting as a bridge to foster steady, sound, and sustainable development between the two nations.

Han is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This marks a significant step in reaffirming the commitment of both countries to collaborate on economic and trade relations.

During the meeting, which included members from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the future of China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of our two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

Han highlighted the pivotal role of the U.S. business community, calling them participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He assured that China would unswervingly advance these efforts and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism following the recent positive phone conversation between Trump and Xi, seeing it as an encouraging message. They emphasized that as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence.

The U.S. business leaders conveyed their optimism about China's economic prospects and the opportunities for development, voicing support for strengthened dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

In addition to meeting with business leaders, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China and share in the fruits of its development. Musk expressed enthusiasm for deepening Tesla's investment and cooperation in China, aiming to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.

This series of meetings underscores the mutual interest in fostering stronger economic ties and the potential for significant collaboration between China and the United States in the coming years.
