Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties for a Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed a strong commitment to deepening strategic mutual trust and strengthening practical cooperation with Vietnam. On Saturday, in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, Xi exchanged congratulations with Vietnamese leaders General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong.

In his message, Xi highlighted the significance of China and Vietnam as friendly socialist neighbors, emphasizing the strategic importance of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He reflected on the historical bonds formed when both nations fought side by side for national independence and liberation, noting that the phrase \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers\" vividly portrays the close relationship between the two parties and countries.

Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. This commitment has elevated the relations between the two parties and countries to a new stage, fostering comprehensive strategic cooperation.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi stressed that China and Vietnam's continued adherence to the path of socialism is crucial for the future of both nations and the global socialist cause. He underscored the importance of their collaboration for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Looking forward, Xi expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for both countries to remember their original mission and forge ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver greater benefits to their peoples and contribute significantly to global development and progress.
