Firefighters Serve Warm Meals to Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

Over a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amid ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a beacon of hope shines through the dedication of local firefighters.

At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit has taken on a heartwarming mission: preparing hot meals for villagers displaced by the quake. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, joined the frontline to witness firsthand how these brave individuals are going beyond their call of duty.

Firefighters, typically seen battling blazes, are now donned in aprons, stirring pots, and serving dishes. The aroma of freshly cooked food mingles with the crisp mountain air, bringing comfort to those who have lost much in the disaster. \"We want to ensure that everyone has a warm meal during these challenging times,\" said team leader Wang Wei.

The communal meals have become a gathering point for the villagers, offering not just nourishment but also a sense of community and support. Children smile as they receive their portions, and elders express gratitude for the assistance.

The efforts of the firefighters exemplify the spirit of unity and resilience in the face of adversity. As reconstruction continues, the cooperation between rescue teams and local residents lays a strong foundation for the region's recovery.
