In a gesture of unity and encouragement ahead of the Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. The annual gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. It's a time for family reunions and cultural celebrations across China and among Chinese communities worldwide.

During the event, Xi Jinping, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted China's commitment to high-quality development, greater self-reliance, and strengthening science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.

Addressing the attendees, Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to focus on the central tasks of the nation. He urged them to serve the country's overall interests by leveraging their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) within the coming year and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. He encouraged them to actively contribute to deepening reforms, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Highlighting environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of sustainable development and ecological conservation as integral parts of China's future.

Xi also called upon the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged efforts to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a business environment conducive to innovation and growth.

The gathering underscored the collaborative efforts between the CPC and non-CPC entities in steering China towards its development goals. It reflected the government's inclusive approach in uniting various sectors of society to contribute to the nation's progress.
