China's President Xi Jinping has extended festive greetings to members of non-Communist parties and organizations ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival. During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi addressed members of non-Communist political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and individuals without party affiliation.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies.
He urged a focus on high-quality development and greater self-reliance in science and technology to ensure sustained economic and social progress in 2025. Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and independent individuals to concentrate on central tasks, serve the nation's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to build broader support and consensus.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to achieve the set targets and lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize positive forces to advance development, deepen reforms, promote high-quality growth, and contribute to formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the importance of tackling critical challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. He encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in fostering entrepreneurial enthusiasm, boosting confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
