Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of ongoing investment and collaboration between the two nations.
Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, serving as a bridge to enhance the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. He highlighted the shared broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between China and the United States.
Han is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping. During a recent phone call, President Xi and President-elect Trump reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations.
In his discussions with U.S. business leaders, including those from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that the U.S. business community has always been a backbone of China-U.S. relations. He acknowledged their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts.
\"China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment,\" Han stated, inviting U.S. companies to seize opportunities and contribute to mutual growth.
Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They viewed the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi as a positive and encouraging message, emphasizing the need for mutually beneficial cooperation between the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies.
\"The U.S. and China should work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" the representatives said, supporting strengthened dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.
Han also held a meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, noting China's welcome of U.S. companies, including Tesla, to share in the fruits of China's development. \"We hope Tesla will deepen its investment and cooperation with China and play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the U.S. and China,\" Han said.
Musk expressed his readiness to enhance collaboration with China and contribute to the promotion of economic and trade relations between the two countries.
