WEF Operations Chief Highlights Sustainability and Diversity at Core of Event

In a recent interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), shed light on the organization's commitment to sustainability and diversity during this year's event.

Podolak emphasized that the WEF has made significant efforts to \"reduce, reuse, and recycle\" throughout the forum. One of the key measures implemented was subsidizing participants who chose to travel using public transportation, encouraging eco-friendly travel options and reducing the event's carbon footprint.

\"We are dedicated to making the WEF not just a platform for global dialogue but also an example of sustainable practices,\" Podolak stated. \"By incentivizing public transportation, we hope to lead by example and show that even large-scale events can be environmentally conscious.\"

Beyond sustainability, Podolak highlighted the forum's focus on bringing in diverse representation from various regions, industries, and opinions. The 2024 Davos Forum aimed to foster inclusivity by ensuring that voices from different backgrounds were heard and involved in critical discussions shaping the global agenda.

\"Diversity is at the heart of meaningful dialogue,\" Podolak remarked. \"By including a wide range of perspectives, we can address global challenges more effectively and collaboratively.\"

The WEF's efforts to promote sustainability and diversity align with its mission to improve the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.

As environmental concerns and the need for inclusive dialogue become increasingly prominent on the global stage, the WEF's initiatives reflect a growing recognition of these critical issues among international organizations and events.
