President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a crucial meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing important reports and discussing strategies for national development and ecological conservation.

During the meeting, the Political Bureau reviewed a comprehensive report from its Standing Committee, following thorough discussions on the work reports submitted by the leading Party members' groups of several key state institutions. These included the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.

The meeting fully recognized the achievements of these leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing the priorities for the coming year, the meeting called on these groups to focus on accomplishing key tasks, fostering reforms, and contributing to high-quality development and the advancement of Chinese modernization.

The Political Bureau also reviewed opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Highlighting the significance of the Yellow River as a vital ecological and cultural symbol, the meeting called for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.

\"Work should be done to systematically enhance the water source conservation capacity in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches,\" the meeting noted.

Efforts were urged to ensure the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure along the river. The meeting emphasized the importance of aligning the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin with broader national strategies such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.

Additionally, the meeting stressed the need to improve the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage in the Yellow River Basin and to promote the integration of culture and tourism development, thereby fostering economic growth and cultural enrichment in the region.
