In a spirit of festivity and unity, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended his warmest Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members. The gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Addressing the assembled guests, Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in ushering in a new era of development. He urged them to serve the country's overall interests and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength. \"Together, we can lay a solid foundation for achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and prepare for the next five years,\" Xi stated.
Underscoring the significance of the upcoming period, Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. He encouraged them to actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He called for heightened efforts to safeguard the environment, emphasizing its importance to China's sustainable development.
The ACFIC was encouraged to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. Xi urged the federation to bolster confidence in development and to assist in establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
