Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to members of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
Speaking at an annual gathering held on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called for unity and collaborative efforts to drive China's high-quality development. The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
Xi emphasized the implementation of more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025. He highlighted the importance of promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to support the nation's growth objectives.
Addressing the non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation, Xi urged them to focus on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.
Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
The president also highlighted the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He stressed the importance of ecological conservation as a vital aspect of the country's sustainable development.
Xi called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged efforts to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a vibrant and resilient economy.
Concluding his remarks, Xi expressed confidence that with unity and collective effort, China would achieve its development goals and usher in a prosperous future. He wished all attendees a happy and fulfilling Spring Festival.
