BEIJING — General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping on Monday extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the nation's goals. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic growth in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. \"Leverage your unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,\" Xi urged.
Underscoring the importance of meeting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi noted that achieving these goals in 2025 would lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and participate actively in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of ecological conservation in achieving sustainable development.
Regarding the private sector, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide private businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged efforts to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
\"By uniting and working together, we can overcome challenges and achieve our common goals,\" Xi concluded, extending his best wishes for the Spring Festival to all attendees.
