Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

In an effort to bolster China-U.S. relations, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday. Han expressed China's hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, serving as a bridge to foster steady, sound, and sustainable development between the two nations.

Han is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, representing President Xi Jinping as his special envoy. During his meeting with U.S. business leaders, including members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han highlighted the important common understandings reached by President Xi and President-elect Trump regarding the future of China-U.S. relations during a recent phone call.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han remarked. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

Han emphasized the pivotal role of the U.S. business community in China-U.S. relations, noting that they have been participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He reassured that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives from the U.S. business community expressed optimism about the future of China-U.S. relations. They noted that the recent phone conversation between President-elect Trump and President Xi sent a positive and encouraging message. As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, they believe the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist.

\"The U.S. business community is optimistic about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development,\" the representatives stated. \"We support strengthening U.S.-China dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.\"

In addition to the meeting with business leaders, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities arising from China's development and to contribute to promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen its investment and cooperation with China. \"Tesla is committed to playing an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China,\" he said.
