President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting reviewed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee after discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of key state institutions. These included the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The meeting highlighted the importance of fully enforcing the Yellow River Protection Law and implementing comprehensive strategies to protect and develop the region.
The meeting called for systematic enhancement of water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Efforts should be made to ensure the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure.
Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the need to align the Yellow River's high-quality development with strategies for the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. It also called for improved protection of cultural heritage and the promotion of integrated culture and tourism development in the area.
