Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations through continued economic cooperation. Han encouraged U.S. companies to invest and establish deeper roots in China, playing an active role as bridges between the two nations.

Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping. During his meeting with business leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that recent communications between President Xi and President-elect Trump have fostered important common understandings regarding the development of bilateral relations.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of our two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

He highlighted the pivotal role of the U.S. business community in China-U.S. relations, recognizing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up initiatives. Han assured that China will steadfastly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They acknowledged that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive, encouraging message. As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence, they said.

\"We support strengthening U.S.-China dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation,\" the representatives affirmed.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
