Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

On Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his commitment to enhancing China-Vietnam relations, emphasizing the importance of building a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. Speaking on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, Xi conveyed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation.

President Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He highlighted the profound friendship between China and Vietnam, describing the two socialist neighbors as \"comrades and brothers.\"

\"Since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our nations have supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi said. \"China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of our bilateral relations.\"

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both sides pledged to elevate their relationship to a new stage by working towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He emphasized that in the face of unprecedented global changes, the continued commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism has significant bearings on the future of both countries and the global socialist cause.

President Xi expressed his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. \"We should keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" he stated. \"By doing so, we will deliver more benefits to our peoples and make important contributions to human development and progress.\"

Xi's remarks underscore the strategic importance of China-Vietnam relations in the current global context, highlighting opportunities for both nations to work together in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
