Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity and High-Quality Development

On Monday, General Secretary Xi Jinping of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee extended warm Spring Festival greetings to China's non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. The annual gathering was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

During the event, President Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals. He highlighted the nation's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

\"We must sustain sound social and economic development in 2025,\" Xi declared, underscoring the significance of meeting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025). \"This will lay a solid foundation for the next five years.\"

Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He also encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

Looking ahead to the future, Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. He called on them to actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

The gathering reflects China's emphasis on unity and collective effort as the nation approaches the new lunar year. By fostering collaboration across all sectors of society, China aims to navigate the challenges ahead and achieve its long-term development objectives.
