Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Meeting to Review 2025 Plans and Yellow River Development

Beijing, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The meeting focused on reviewing crucial reports and opinions that will shape China's future.

The gathering evaluated a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after discussing work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee also presented its work report.

One of the key topics was the comprehensive promotion of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Acknowledging the strategic importance of the region, the meeting called for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.

The meeting highly commended the work of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. It was emphasized that in 2025, these groups must prioritize tangible results, unite efforts to push forward reforms, and make new contributions to advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to boost political capabilities, strengthen strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

Regarding ecological initiatives, the meeting highlighted the need to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure was also prioritized.

Furthermore, efforts were urged to strengthen the synergy of the Yellow River's high-quality development with the strategies of large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. The meeting called for improved holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and the promotion of integrated culture and tourism development.

This meeting underscores China's commitment to balancing economic growth with ecological preservation, aiming to achieve sustainable development and enrich the lives of its people.
