Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Resettlement and reconstruction efforts are still underway as the community works tirelessly to rebuild.

In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a heartwarming role beyond their usual duties. They're preparing lunch for villagers who have been affected by the earthquake, bringing comfort and a sense of normalcy to those in need.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village and witnessed the firefighters chopping vegetables, stirring large pots, and serving hot meals to grateful residents. The aroma of home-cooked food filled the air, and smiles spread across the faces of both the cooks and the villagers.

“We want to support the community in every way possible,” one firefighter shared. “Cooking meals is a small gesture, but it brings people together and lifts spirits during this challenging time.”

The villagers expressed deep appreciation for the firefighters' efforts. “Their kindness gives us strength,” said a local resident. “It reminds us that we're not alone in this, and together we can overcome the difficulties we face.”

The collaborative spirit between the firefighters and the villagers exemplifies the resilience and unity of the people in Xizang. As reconstruction progresses, acts of kindness like these play a vital role in healing and rebuilding the community.
