Xi and Putin Pledge to Strengthen China-Russia Relations Amid Global Uncertainties

In a video meeting on Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening China-Russia relations amid global uncertainties.

President Xi emphasized that a stable and resilient partnership between China and Russia is crucial for addressing challenges in the external environment. He expressed readiness to work with President Putin in 2025 to elevate bilateral relations to new heights, promote the development and revitalization of both nations, and uphold international fairness and justice.

Xi called for deepening strategic cooperation, solidifying mutual support, and safeguarding the legitimate interests of both countries. He highlighted the importance of consolidating and expanding bilateral ties and promoting practical cooperation across various sectors.

President Putin, in response, noted that Russia and China have always trusted and supported each other, treating one another as equals. He stated that cooperation between the two nations serves the interests of their peoples and will remain unaffected by changes in the international situation.

During the meeting, the two leaders also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern. They agreed to maintain strategic communication throughout the year to address shared challenges and continue fostering strong ties.
