Xi Jinping and Vietnamese Leaders Pledge Stronger Ties on 75th Anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vietnamese leaders exchanged congratulations on Saturday, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. President Xi expressed his readiness to work with Vietnam to deepen strategic mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation, and achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

In messages exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi highlighted the profound friendship and historical bonds between the two socialist neighbors.

\"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, China and Vietnam have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi said. He added that the phrase \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers\" vividly portrays the relationship between the two parties and countries.

Xi emphasized that in advancing socialism, both countries have learned from each other and moved forward hand in hand, deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation. He recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage.

\"As changes in the world, the times, and history unfold in unprecedented ways, China and Vietnam continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism bears on the future of our parties and countries, and holds great significance for the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large,\" Xi noted.

He expressed his commitment to the growth of bilateral relations and his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders. \"Taking the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, we should keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" Xi said. This, he added, would benefit the peoples of both countries and contribute to revitalizing the global socialist cause and advancing human development and progress.
