In a spirit of unity and progress, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
On Monday, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his well-wishes during an annual gathering with non-CPC personages. The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
Emphasizing the importance of the coming year, Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic growth in 2025.
\"Achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan is crucial,\" Xi stated. \"We must lay a solid foundation for the next five years.\"
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks, serve the nation's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. Xi encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength in advancing development.
Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to contribute actively to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem.
He also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
