Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
During the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi Jinping conveyed his warm wishes for the upcoming Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks of the nation. He encouraged them to serve the country's overall interests, leverage their unique strengths, rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.
Highlighting the importance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to achieve the set targets by 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and assist in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection, emphasizing environmental sustainability as a key area for collaborative efforts.
He urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The annual Spring Festival gathering serves as an important platform for fostering unity and collaboration among various political parties, organizations, and individuals in China. Xi's remarks highlight the government's focus on inclusive development and the vital role of non-CPC entities in achieving the nation's goals.
