Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival. The gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes as China prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the nation's development goals.
During the event, Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Underscoring the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi emphasized the need to achieve the targets set for 2025 and to lay a solid foundation for the following five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the necessity of tackling critical and challenging problems in the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of ecological conservation in ensuring sustainable development.
Xi also provided guidance to the ACFIC, encouraging it to lead the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He called for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The gathering reflects the Chinese leadership's emphasis on inclusiveness and the collective effort required to meet the country's ambitious goals. As China stands on the cusp of significant milestones, the unity between the CPC and non-CPC entities is seen as vital to driving forward the nation's progress.
