Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Boosts China-U.S. Ties in Meeting with U.S. Business Leaders

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday in Washington D.C., aiming to strengthen China-U.S. relations and foster economic cooperation between the two nations.

\"U.S. companies are encouraged to continue investing and taking root in China,\" Han said. \"We hope they will play an active role as a bridge and make greater contributions to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.\"

Han's remarks came during meetings with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the discussions, Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, stating that they reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations.

Noting the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation, Han emphasized that getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community.

He praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, describing it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up drive. Han reiterated China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up efforts and improving its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive message from the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi, stating that as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence.

The U.S. business leaders voiced their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

In a separate meeting on Sunday, Han met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han noted that China welcomes U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, playing an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
