Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of continued investment and cooperation between China and the United States. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will \"continue to invest and take root in China,\" playing an active role as a bridge and contributing to the \"steady, sound, and sustainable development\" of China-U.S. relations.

The meeting included leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Han is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, acting as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative at the invitation of the United States.

During discussions, Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi Jinping and President-elect Donald Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings regarding the future development of China-U.S. relations. He stressed that China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectation of the international community,\" Han stated.

Han acknowledged the significant role that the U.S. business community has played in fostering China-U.S. relations, describing it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He assured that China will \"unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment.\"

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They viewed the recent phone conversation between President Trump and President Xi as a positive and encouraging message. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they noted. The business leaders expressed support for strengthening dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. During their meeting, Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities to share in the fruits of China's development. He encouraged greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk expressed that Tesla is ready to deepen its investment and cooperation with China and play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
