Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Partnership Towards a Shared Future

Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper strategic mutual trust and strengthened practical cooperation between the two nations. In a message exchanged with Vietnamese leaders on Saturday, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, communicated with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He highlighted the profound friendship between the two socialist neighbors, noting that \"so profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers\" has become the most vivid portrayal of their relations.

Reflecting on the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Xi recalled how both countries have fought side by side and supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. He remarked that in advancing socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and forged ahead hand in hand, deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation.

Xi's successful visit to Vietnam in 2023 marked a new stage in the relations between the two parties and countries. The two sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, raising the bilateral relationship to new heights.

Amid the unprecedented changes unfolding in the world, Xi underscored that China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism bears on the future of both nations and the global socialist cause. Their cooperation holds great significance for peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world at large.

Expressing his commitment to the growth of bilateral relations, Xi stated that he is willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for both sides to keep in mind their original mission and forge ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver more benefits to their peoples and contribute to the revitalization of the world socialist cause and human development.
