Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Meeting to Review Key Reports and Promote High-Quality Development

President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing important reports and setting plans for the nation's high-quality development.

The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after hearing and discussing work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). Additionally, the meeting reviewed the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

Key opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin were also examined. The Yellow River, often called the \"Mother River\" of China, is a crucial ecological barrier and an important economic zone in the Chinese mainland.

The meeting acknowledged the significant work undertaken by the leading Party members' groups of the five state institutions over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasis was placed on prioritizing action, uniting efforts to advance reforms, and contributing to high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance its political capabilities, strengthen strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.

Highlighting the importance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, the meeting called for full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law. Efforts are to be made to enhance water conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

The meeting also emphasized the need to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure, align the Yellow River's high-quality development with regional development strategies, improve the protection of cultural heritage, and promote the integration of culture and tourism.
