Beijing, (Date) — Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing important reports and discussing strategies for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
The meeting reviewed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after it heard and discussed the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), as well as the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting fully recognized the achievements of these leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing the importance of action and reform, the meeting called on the groups to make new contributions to advancing high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.
Xi Jinping highlighted the significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, urging the promotion of the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law. He emphasized the need to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
The meeting also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. It called for strengthening the synergy of the Yellow River's high-quality development with strategies such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, it advocated for improving the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was urged to boost political ability, strengthen strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
