Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Boost Bilateral Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with prominent U.S. business leaders in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of continued investment and collaboration to strengthen China-U.S. relations. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would \"continue to invest and take root in China, play an active role as a bridge, and make a greater contribution to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.\"

The meeting included representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative at the invitation of the United States.

During the discussions, Han highlighted the recent phone call between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings regarding the development of bilateral relations. \"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serve the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meet the expectation of the international community.\"

Han praised the U.S. business community as being the backbone of China-U.S. relations, acknowledging their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up initiatives. He assured that China will continue to advance its reform and opening-up efforts and improve its business environment.

The U.S. business leaders responded positively, expressing optimism about China's economic prospects and the opportunities for development. They viewed the recent conversation between Trump and Xi as a positive and encouraging sign. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they said.

The representatives affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to further advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation. They emphasized their commitment to continue investing in China and contributing to the growth of both economies.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to \"seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development and make greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.\" Musk expressed eagerness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, pledging to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
