Han Zheng meets U.S. business leaders to strengthen China-U.S. ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations through continued economic cooperation. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, acting as a bridge to foster steady, sound, and sustainable development between the two nations.

During the meeting in Washington D.C., Han engaged with members from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Han highlighted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached significant common understandings on the future development of China-U.S. relations during a phone call. He noted that the two countries share broad common interests and immense potential for cooperation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and maintaining its steady growth serves the common well-being of the peoples of both nations and meets the expectations of the international community,\" Han stated.

He praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, describing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han assured that China will unwaveringly advance its reform and opening-up policies and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They acknowledged that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive and encouraging message. As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, they agreed that the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence.

The U.S. business leaders voiced their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation. They emphasized the importance of finding common ground to foster a stable partnership that benefits both countries and the global economy.

Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize the opportunity to share in China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.
