President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing reports and opinions aimed at promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
During the meeting, the Political Bureau reviewed the work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, the State Council, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), as well as the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
The reports highlighted the achievements of the past year and outlined work plans for 2025. The meeting fully recognized the efforts of these groups and approved their future plans, emphasizing the priority of accomplishing tasks, pushing forward reforms, and contributing to high-quality development and Chinese modernization.
The significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin was a key topic. The meeting called for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law and stressed the need to enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
Efforts were urged to ensure the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. The meeting also highlighted the importance of aligning the Yellow River's development with strategies for the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, there was a call to improve the protection of cultural heritage and promote the integration of culture and tourism development.
