It has been over a week since the magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villages in need of assistance, and resettlement and reconstruction efforts are still underway.
In the small village of Cuo'ang in Quluo Town, the community is beginning to rebuild. The Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit has been at the forefront of these efforts, not only battling fires but also providing essential support to the villagers.
Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, joined the firefighters on the frontline as they prepared lunch for the affected residents. The scent of freshly cooked meals wafted through the air as firefighters and villagers came together, sharing stories and hopes for the future.
\"It’s not just about putting out fires,\" said one firefighter. \"We are here to support the community in any way we can.\"
The act of cooking and sharing food has brought a sense of normalcy and comfort to the villagers of Cuo'ang. Children laughed as they helped set up tables, and elders shared their gratitude for the continued support.
As resettlement continues, the cooperation between the firefighters and the local community serves as a beacon of resilience and unity in the face of adversity.
