President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday.
The meeting reviewed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after hearing and discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), as well as the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
Opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin were also reviewed.
The meeting fully recognized the work of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025.
In 2025, the leading Party members' groups of the five state institutions must prioritize accomplishing tasks, pool strength to push forward reforms, and contribute to advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization, the meeting noted.
The Secretariat was urged to boost political ability, strengthen strict self-governance, and fulfill all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting highlighted the significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, calling for promoting the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.
Efforts should be made to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches of the Yellow River.
The meeting also called for ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure; strengthening synergy with strategies for large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region; improving holistic protection of cultural heritage; and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
