Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing reports and opinions crucial to China's ongoing development and ecological conservation efforts.
The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from key state institutions, including the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting acknowledged the achievements of these leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. It emphasized that in 2025, these groups must prioritize effective action, unite efforts to drive reforms, and contribute to advancing high-quality development and the modernization of China.
The Secretariat was urged to enhance political capabilities, strengthen strict self-governance, and successfully accomplish all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.
A key focus of the meeting was the comprehensive promotion of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The meeting highlighted the importance of fully enforcing the Yellow River Protection Law. Efforts should be made to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches of the Yellow River.
The meeting also called for ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. It emphasized the need to synergize the Yellow River's high-quality development with strategies for large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, it underscored the importance of improving holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
