President Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Leadership Meeting to Review Key Reports

In a significant move toward steering the nation's future, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing crucial reports and setting the agenda for 2025.

The gathering delved into a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee after it heard and discussed the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of several key state institutions. These institutions include the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.

One of the focal points of the meeting was the comprehensive promotion of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The importance of this initiative was underscored, highlighting the need for full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.

The meeting fully recognized the work accomplished by the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasis was placed on prioritizing actionable outcomes, uniting efforts to push forward reforms, and making new contributions to advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance its political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

Regarding the Yellow River Basin, the meeting called for systematic enhancements in water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthened soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advanced wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure was also emphasized.

The meeting stressed the importance of aligning the high-quality development of the Yellow River with broader strategies such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Efforts to protect cultural heritage holistically and systematically, along with promoting the integration of culture and tourism development, were also highlighted.
