China Open to IP Dialogue with EU Amid WTO Dispute

China has expressed its openness to ongoing communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property rights (IPR) issues, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday.

\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry stated, emphasizing China's willingness to engage in dialogue to address concerns.

The statement comes after the EU filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial measures regarding standard essential patent disputes. The complaint was lodged on Monday, following a consultation request received by China from the EU on January 20.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce highlighted that China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its commitments upon accession. The ministry pointed out that China has continuously improved legislation and law enforcement related to IPR protection, achievements that have been widely recognized internationally.

\"China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests,\" the ministry added, reaffirming its commitment to the multilateral trading system and the resolution of disputes through established channels.
