The meeting focused on reviewing significant reports and advancing ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after deliberating on the work reports submitted by the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee also presented its work report.

The meeting acknowledged the accomplishments of these leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. It emphasized the importance of prioritizing effective action, uniting efforts to drive reforms, and making new contributions to advancing high-quality development and the pursuit of Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance its political capabilities, strengthen self-discipline, and diligently fulfill all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the Yellow River Basin, the meeting called for comprehensive ecological protection and high-quality development in the region. It stressed the need for full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law to safeguard this vital waterway, often referred to as the \"mother river\" of China.

Specific measures outlined included systematically enhancing water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological management in the lower reaches. The meeting also underscored the necessity of ensuring the safety of critical dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure along the river.

In addition, the meeting advocated for strengthening the synergy between the Yellow River's development and national strategies such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. It called for improved holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoted the integration of cultural and tourism development to enrich the lives of the people in the basin.
