Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation with Vietnam, aiming to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. His remarks came on Saturday as he exchanged congratulations with Vietnamese leaders on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, reached out to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He emphasized the profound friendship that binds China and Vietnam, describing them as friendly socialist neighbors and a community with a shared future.
\"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two sides have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi stated. He highlighted that the sentiment of being \"comrades and brothers\" vividly portrays the relationship between the two parties and countries.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both nations pledged to work towards a community with a shared future, elevating their relationship to a new stage. He acknowledged that as the world undergoes unprecedented changes, the commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism significantly impacts the future of their parties and countries, as well as global socialist progress.
\"Continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism has a bearing on the future of our parties and countries, and is of great significance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large,\" Xi said.
He expressed his commitment to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Xi called for remembering the original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
