Xi Jinping Extends Festive Greetings to Non-CPC Personages Ahead of Lunar New Year

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to non-Communist Party of China (CPC) personages ahead of the Spring Festival, emphasizing unity and collaboration for the nation's development.

On Monday, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, is the most significant traditional festival in China, marking the beginning of a new year according to the lunar calendar. This year, it falls on January 29.

During the annual gathering, Xi emphasized the importance of implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025. He highlighted the need to focus on high-quality development and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

\"We must work together to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi said.

He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to focus on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

He also stressed the importance of addressing critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection, underscoring the need for environmental sustainability in development efforts.

The president urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.

Xi's remarks highlight the significance of unity and collective effort among all sectors of society to achieve China's developmental goals and contribute to the nation's prosperity.

As China enters the new lunar year, these messages underscore a commitment to collaboration and shared progress.
