WEF Operations Chief Highlights Sustainability and Diversity at the 2024 Davos Forum

In a recent interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized the organization's commitment to sustainability and diversity at the 2024 Davos Forum.

Podolak highlighted that this year's event made significant strides in environmental responsibility by implementing the principles of \"reduce, reuse, and recycle.\" One of the key measures taken was subsidizing participants who chose to travel by public transportation, encouraging eco-friendly travel and reducing the event's carbon footprint.

\"We tried our best to minimize environmental impact by supporting attendees who opted for sustainable travel options,\" Podolak said. \"Our goal is to inspire others to make environmentally conscious decisions.\"

Beyond sustainability, the 2024 Davos Forum also focused on enhancing diversity among its participants. Podolak noted that the event brought together a wide array of representatives from different regions, industries, and viewpoints. This diverse representation aimed to foster inclusive dialogue and generate innovative solutions to global challenges.

\"Bringing together a variety of perspectives is crucial,\" he stated. \"We believe that diversity drives creativity and that inclusive discussions lead to more effective outcomes.\"

The WEF's efforts reflect a broader commitment to addressing pressing global issues through collaboration and responsible practices. By prioritizing sustainability and diversity, the Forum seeks to set an example for international gatherings and encourage stakeholders worldwide to adopt similar approaches.
