President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau on Monday to review important work reports and discuss strategies for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
The meeting reviewed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after hearing and discussing the work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.
The meeting fully recognized the accomplishments of these leading Party groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025.
In 2025, these leading Party members' groups are expected to prioritize effective implementation, consolidate efforts to advance reforms, and contribute to high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.
The meeting highlighted the significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, emphasizing the need for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.
Efforts will focus on enhancing water source conservation capacity in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure was also emphasized.
The meeting called for improving the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage in the region and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
By aligning the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin with the strategies for large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region, the CPC aims to achieve sustainable growth and improve the well-being of the people along the Yellow River.
