Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his well-wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Xi, who also serves as Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country’s overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. Xi encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation’s development.
Underscoring the importance of meeting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality growth, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
