Beijing — In an annual tradition ahead of the Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
On Monday, Xi Jinping, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes during a gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
Addressing the assembly, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the country’s central tasks and serve the nation’s overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength from all sectors.
Underlining the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the importance of achieving the targets set for 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize positive forces to advance development, deepen reforms, promote high-quality growth, and contribute to formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also addressed critical challenges, emphasizing the need to tackle difficult issues in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection. He highlighted the ecological significance of the river and the importance of safeguarding its environment.
Furthermore, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in fostering enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He urged efforts to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, contributing to the nation’s economic vitality.
As the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, Xi’s messages aim to unify various sectors of society toward shared goals of prosperity, innovation, and sustainable development.
