President Xi Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Community with Shared Future

Beijing – Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation, aiming for new achievements in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

Speaking on Saturday during the exchange of congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong over the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi highlighted the profound relationship between the two nations.

“China and Vietnam, two friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi said. He emphasized that since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, both countries have fought side by side and supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation.

“So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” he added, describing it as the most vivid portrayal of the relations between the two parties and countries.

Xi noted that in advancing socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and forged ahead hand in hand, thereby deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation. Sharing the same ideals and pursuing a shared future is the most striking feature of their bilateral relations.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi said both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, elevating the relations between the two parties and countries to a new stage.

As unprecedented changes unfold in the world, Xi stressed that China and Vietnam’s commitment to the socialist path bears on the future of both countries and the global socialist cause. It is of great significance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large.

He expressed his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Xi called for keeping in mind the original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, to deliver more benefits to the two peoples and contribute to revitalizing the global socialist cause and advancing human development and progress.
