Xi Jinping Calls for Unity and Innovation in Spring Festival Greetings

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to members of non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.

On Monday, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

During the event, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation’s focus on high-quality development and the importance of achieving greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks and serve the country’s broader interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for national development.

Underscoring the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to meet the targets set for 2025, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality growth, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the importance of tackling critical and challenging issues in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection.

He also encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining entrepreneurial enthusiasm and bolstering confidence in development. Xi emphasized the need for private enterprises to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese characteristics.
