China’s President Xi Jinping extended warm Spring Festival greetings to non-Communist Party of China (CPC) personages during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday. Addressing representatives from non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front, Xi emphasized unity and collaboration ahead of the Lunar New Year festivities.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the importance of implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in 2025. He stressed the need to focus on high-quality development and to promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to maintain sound momentum for social and economic advancement.
“We need to work together to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,” Xi said. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on the central tasks, serve the nation’s overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. “By rallying support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength, we can drive forward our country’s development,” he added.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. It is a time of family reunions and cultural celebrations across China and among Chinese communities worldwide. Xi’s address underscores the significance of unity and collective effort in achieving national goals during this festive period.
